It is never too early to learn about safety. Our child and youth course offer a fun and educational way for children of all ages to learn about safety. With our courses children will gain confidence and safety skills.
Red Cross Babysitting Course
(11-15 year old)
Learn the role of the babysitter, child development, caring for children, positive behavior management, home and outdoor safety and injury prevention, fire safety and first aid tips for children. Learn how to operate your babysitting business. Engaging and educational.
Course fees include babysitter manual and graduation card with successful completion.
Safe Sport (ages 8-11)
SafeSport is a comprehensive child safety course that encourages children to get involved in sports, and emphasizes the fundamental safety aspects of doing so. SafeSport discusses how to be a Super Sport, stay safe at away games, prevent injuries, increase self-esteem, deal with sport-bullies, agressive players and coaches , and all about the health benefits of keeping active. Course fees include workbook.
Home Alone (10 and older)
This safety awareness course is for children who are or will be staying at home on their own. Students will learn how to evaluate their surrounding and what is a safe environment at home and in their community. Students learn when, who and how to call for help in an emergency,how to prevent problems, handle real-life situations, and keep safe and constructively occupied. Course fees include workbook and certificate with successful completion.
Stranger Smarts (ages 7-10)
Stranger Smarts is a dynamic, nonthreatening program that captures the attention of students and allows them to learn how to make safe choices when approached by strangers.
I Wanna Walk (8 and older)
One of the most difficult things for many parents is letting go and allowing their children to walk to school on their own. I Wanna Walk program is a two-hour child safety education class that prepares kids ages eight and up to walk to and from school safely. Kids learn how to safely respond to situations dealing with the three main risks: Strangers, Bullies and Traffic. Course fees include workbook.
People Savers Safety Awareness & First Aid
This 4 level course, developed by the Canadian Red Cross to teach safety awareness and first aid to elementary aged school children. Students will learn to check for safety, call for help and care for an injured person. This program is flexible to suit a variety of groups. Each level reinforces the information from an earlier level however a student can enter at any level.
